8/24/2023 0 Comments Nord stage 3 vs yamaha montage 8(It also has a bunch of functionalities the Nord does not.) The Roland that comes closest to equalling the Nord Stage 3 in piano, organ, and synth is the Fantom, with the big question probably being whether you like its V-Piano as much as the Nord pianos. This is where the flexibility of a workstation is a benefit (not possible with a single Nord).Īt the very least, I'd look at Kronos, Montage, and Fantom. With a single button press, I can switch between the Strings/Strings split. My main Strings sound consists of four sounds layered (including Pizzicato), then I have a separate Strings sound for the counter melody, trumpet, and Electric Piano. and still have enough polyphony so notes don't cut out. I have to layer Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, Synth Pad, and Vocal type Pad. In my situation, I have to cover songs like Here I Go Again and Billie Jean. (Piano, Organ, or occasional Synth), a workstation might be overkill. If you just need a keyboard to play a single sound. They will let you split/layer your choice of up to 16 different sounds. These will have a wider pallet of sounds than the Nords. I mean keyboards like Yamaha Montage, Roland Fantom, Korg Kronos. ![]() I think they sound great and the user interface is very well thought out (the Electro is dead simple and intuitive, the Stage is a bit more complex).īy "workstation". I personally love the Nords and recently upgraded from an Electro to a Stage Compact (I wanted the full synth). If you decide that the Electro is all you need, then look at the Yamaha YC and YP units - they are well-reviewed and are more reasonably priced. What the Stage adds the VA synth (which is nice, but you have to program it), more flexibility with splits and two "panels" (basically, you are getting two full sound engine at once that you can switch between or blend - it's very powerful). If all you are looking for is organ, piano and basic ROMpler style samples, the Electro will get you there. ![]() Synth (only available on the Stage): very nice virtual analog synth - classic subtractive synthesis.ROMpler tones: great Mellotron library, decent strings and other classic samples (plus, you can load your own samples in).The Nords are stupid expensive, so think very seriously about whether the Nord Stage is the right one for you - the Electro might be a good option as well.
